Dark rooms, flashing lights, fog, music and some loud noises, plus free headphones and sunglasses at the desk. Meow Wolf rates every area for sound. Those ratings, and what to ask for at the desk, shape the plan.
Sensory supports. Free headphones, sound rated 1 to 10.
Hours
Days and times vary. Open every day of the week, but hours change with weather, demand and special events; open a date on the Denver ticket calendar to see that day's hours. Entry by timed ticket only.
“Consider visiting on a weekday or morning for the possibility of a smaller crowd.”
“There are many spaces or rooms throughout the exhibitions that are designed for more minimal sensory experiences.”
Meow Wolf doesn't hold sensory-friendly dates or hours. It suggests early visits, and weekday or morning visits may be less crowded. What it does offer every day is free sensory items, trained staff and some lower-sensory rooms.
The Broncos play next door. On home game days there's no on-site parking and prices climb, so check the Broncos schedule before you pick a date.
The lower-sensory rooms aren't named on a map. By Meow Wolf's own ratings the café is the quietest spot for sound, and any team member can point you to the calmest rooms that day.
Free to borrow, while supplies last: noise-canceling headphones (kids and adults), sunglasses, fidget spinners and push-pop fidgets, communication cards, an unbreakable mirror. Ask at Guest Services, just past security, when you arrive or any time during your visit.
Lower-sensory rooms exist but are not named; ask a team member which ones. Staff are trained on cognitive disabilities and sensitivities, and Meow Wolf is an IBCCES Certified Autism Center.
Re-entry: plan as if leaving ends the visit, unless Guest Services stamps your hand first. Meow Wolf says: “General Admission guests* are allowed to re-enter the exhibition on the same day that their purchased ticket is valid.” “You must visit the guest services desk to get your hand stamped before you exit.” If you might step out for a break, stop at Guest Services on the way and ask.
